SUMMARY
Add support for animated GIF thumbnails that only play when a user hovers over the icon, instead of continuously animating.
CURRENT LIMITATION
Animated GIF thumbnails can be useful, but when multiple GIF icons are displayed on the same page, the constant animation can make the interface feel visually busy or distracting.
PROPOSED ENHANCEMENT
Add an option for GIF thumbnails to animate only when hovered over by the user.
Possible options could include:
* A global platform setting
* A customer-level feature toggle
* An upload option such as “Play on Hover: Yes / No”
BENEFITS
This feature would help create a cleaner and more polished user experience while still allowing teams to use animated thumbnails where appropriate.
It would also:
* Reduce visual clutter
* Make catalog pages feel less busy
* Allow animation to be used more intentionally
* Give users more control over thumbnail behavior
* Preserve the option for continuously animated GIFs when needed
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATION
Some users may rely on continuously animated GIFs to draw attention to specific content. For that reason, this feature would be most beneficial if it were optional or configurable.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Hover-based GIF animation would allow teams to create more engaging content without overwhelming users with constant motion across the platform.
